In controlled studies where half of all statements are lies, people identify deception at about that rate — a coin flip. The figure is an artifact of that fifty-fifty lab setup, and no demeanor signal moves it (Levine, 2019).
So a machine that tells you who is lying is the product Whisper refuses to be. No truth scores, no trust ratings, no labels on people. Whisper works on the part that can actually be coached: what was claimed, what is still unverified, and what to ask next.
One mode per conversation. It changes which playbook is in play, and leaves how often Whisper speaks alone.

Silence is the default.
At most one cue per beat, and most beats get none. A coach that talks constantly is a second conversation.
Hypotheses, never verdicts.
Whisper tells you what to check. It never tells you who to trust — there is no lie score and no label on a person, in any mode.
Every cue survives being seen.
A move is only suggested if it still works once the other person knows you were coached to make it. If a tactic needs hiding to work, Whisper will not whisper it.
